We post photos online to gain approval from others by conforming to societal norms of self-image. The online version of yourself can get further removed from your real self. It becomes more difficult to live up to the perfect self-image projected online. This is a problem because it creates unrealistic standards that we can never meet. Are you actually the one that you show on social media or is it an alter ego created by you?
With this project I combine the ‘perfect’ online image with the realistic real world. I use everyday situations so others can easily identify with these artworks. We need to try to understand the world around us to not fall into the self-destructive patterns that the online world can create.
